INTELEX highlighted as a key transparency tool for law firms and in-house pharma counsel
Shanghai, China – July 26, 2013– GBI and Jones Day hosted a joint seminar and networking event on July 24th in the historic Roosevelt building on Shanghai’s Bund. Attended by in-house counsel from pharmaceutical and consulting companies, the afternoon session focused on intellectual property in China’s pharmaceutical market.
"This was a great opportunity to bring together a group of pharmaceutical and law professionals and discuss pertinent issues and solutions relating to intellectual property in China," GBI CEO Matthew Chervenak stated. "GBI is thrilled to offer INTELEX as a transparency solution for China’s opaque healthcare legal space."
Chervenak delivered opening remarks, noting that prior to INTELEX a systematic way to gather IP and litigation intelligence did not exist, leaving legal counsel to rely on relationships or guanxi, as it is known in Chinese, to gather key information. Tony Chen, partner at Jones Day Shanghai, followed Matthew Chervenak’s remarks and delivered an interactive case study on generic market entry, leveraging pipeline, patent and registration data from INTELEX. He lauded INTELEX as a fundamental resource, while discussing recent IP litigation and patent invalidation in China. Chen further emphasized the importance of understanding the entire legal landscape and receiving the necessary patents and patent intelligence to ensure utmost protection of intellectual property.
"We are thrilled by the success of this event and look forward to continuing this relationship in the future" Chervenak continued. The next partnered event will be held in October 2013 and will focus on compliance. It will feature dial-in capabilities for interested colleagues outside of China.
